



Cuellar won the gold medal at the 2016 San Antonio International Piano Competition, where he also received prizes for the best performance of both a Romantic work (Schumann’s Humoreske), as well as of a Russian work (Prokofiev’s 4th Sonata). Cuellar’s performance as “virtuosic in scope and expression, like a great man of the theater,” and praised his “ability to illuminate both the external structure and the emotional core of the work he plays.” He has been described by Cleveland Classical as possessing “nerves of steel, a formidable technique, and an architect’s understanding of structure.” The San Antonio Express-News praised his “luxuriant exploration” of Liszt’s First Piano Concerto, adding that his “technique was clean, his melodies and cadenzas were expressive, but most noticeable was his keyboard fluidity.” SCOTT CUELLAR, PIANO In reviewing pianist Scott Cuellar’s debut recital at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, David LaMarche of the New York Concert Review described Mr. Katarzyna lives in Brooklyn with her husband, flutist David Weiss.Her teachers include Christian Tetzlaff, David Cerutti, Herbert Greenberg, Honggang Li, Jadwiga Kaliszewska, and her father Bartosz Bryla.Katarzyna has performed in numerous renowned music festivals: Classical Tahoe, Napa Valley Music Festival, Central Vermont Music Festival, Cactus Pear Music Festival, Bach Dancing and Dynamite, Singapore Sun Music Festival, Las Palmas Music Festival, and many others.She was a soloist with the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra in their tour of China in 2010, and was soloist for the noted Maazel/Vilar Conducting Competition in Cracow in 2001.She is also a member of the New York City Ballet Orchestra and the New York Pops Orchestra. In 2019 she became a co-principal violist of Orchestra of St.Recently appointed to the San Francisco Symphony viola section, Katarzyna regularly performs with orchestras, chamber groups, and as a soloist in an international career that has taken her across four continents. KATARZYNA BRYLA-WEISS, VIOLA Katarzyna Bryla-Weiss was born into a family of musicians and has gone on to earn more than two dozen prizes and awards in the United States, France and her native Poland.
